I think I first stumbled on the art of Karl Wirsum at the Phyllis Kind Gallery in the 90's. It's always really resonated with me, I loved seeing the Hairy Who show at the Art Institute in 2018 and was thrilled to see his work on glass and plexi there since I've been experimenting with it for awhile now. What a legacy he leaves behind, I've read so many lovely sentiments from students and folks who new him, not too mention such a prolific, vibrant body of work...AND, sketchbooks! I learned today how his sketchbooks were a large part of his process. So I use mine that way as well but more to document my life and lives lost...learning, adventures, and more. Please look him up if you don't know of his work. #ripkarlwirsum
