1001 Fans....
Press & Published ...CommentAre you on Facebook? I just surpassed the 1000 "Like" landmark for my Anne Leuck Feldhaus Studio Business page - I do realize this fluctuates daily so you might visit and find it back at 995 again! In any case, I am so grateful for all the 'likes' and comments and interactions and feedback about my work. I'm much better about updating there than on my website or here on the blog - just due to the ease of it. I'm sure I will be posting more specials once I get settled in my new more private work studio so if you would like to "LIKE" me...well, I'd like that! ; )
Eastern Iowa Life....
Events, Shows & Ar..., Press & Published ...Comment....I was excited to get some press after the Marion Art Fair last weekend inEastern Iowa Life. It felt great to get my tent out and do my first outdoor show of the season, the weather ended up cooperating and we had a good turn out crowd wise. Also enjoyed getting out on the road, so easy to get caught up in urban life, the open road stretching out before me is always a welcome sight.
new collectors!
...."A Woman and Her Dog"...
I did some power painting prior to the show including lots of new mini art blocks:
do you like my new 'skelly's" ...inpsired by my most recent pet portrait commission of medi & tula! Just $32 each!
Iowa has the most beautiful rest stops of any state I've seen, they all seem to incorporate original art work into their design and on the grounds...this one 30+ miles west of Davenport.
...and it won't fit through the studio door!
Commissioned Art, My Candy Colored World1 CommentDrove out to Westmont yesterday to pick up the fiberglass hibiscus bird bath I've been commissioned to paint for the In Bloom Public Art Project on display at Oak Brook Center this summer...I knew it probably would not fit in the truck with the topper. Luckily an angel stepped in and was able to help us hoist it up to the roof and we bungeed it down. Made for a suspenseful ride back into the city on the expressways. Upon arrival at my studio, it came down off the truck easily, but no matter how we angled it, just would not fit through the door! It's currently sitting in my entryway...I had thoughts of painting it out there but am leery of vandalism, so will most likely port it home to my garage to paint. Stay tuned!
Anne's Pet Portrait Debut on 190 North....Watch the Live Podcast!
Collectors Corner, Pet Portraits, Press & Published ..., Video1 CommentCheck out our fun feature from ABC Channel 7's 190 North Television Show! It turned out great thanks to the wonderful interviews with my customers and their pets (Cris & Kaaren & Tango and Sarah & Bear), and all the great folks and camera crew at 190 North, thank you Janet & Holly!! Sadly, Bear, the sweet Bernese Mountain Dog in the segment passed away a few weeks ago...so honored to have created his portrait and that he's also immortalized on film. He was beloved by everyone in the neighborhood.
Please contact me if you are ready to order a Pet Portrait!
The other wonderful part of this feature, it aired the night before my 44th birthday...a lovely gift!
Author Stephanie Calmenson...her dog, Harry & my art, on Skype!
Collectors CornerCommentMeet Stephanie and Harry! She had the winning bid on the painting hanging behind her (Black Dog + Stripes) at the Barkin Arts Fundraiser in NYC in 2006. She contacted me shortly after and expressed an interest in having me illustrate one of her future books (which I would love to do!). Stay tuned on that....
In the mean time, more about Stephanie: she has written several nonfiction dogs books and does on-line chats with schools (all age groups) as well as rescue organizations and other animal advocate groups. It warms my heart to know that my dog painting hangs in the background during these chats! Stephanie also presents at teacher and librarian conferences where she uses her books to talk about the writing process. For more information about her online chats see the "For Grown-ups" page of her web site: www.stephaniecalmenson.com
Her adorable dog, Harry, (in the Skype photo) is also the star of her book, May I Pet Your Dog? How fun is that?!
Sharp Art!
Inspiring Artists &...CommentJames Sharp and his wife Rosemary have been collecting my work for a few years now...it wasn't until I delivered a painting to their home last year, in Evanston, that I found out James was an artist, as well! They also have a home in the UK where he creates and shows the majority of his work. I love this textile bag he created with a mixed media collage technique. It holds so much and has been my 'go to' bag all summer long. Please visit SharpArt.co.uk to see more of his wonderfully prolific art work. Front and backsides of the bag: http://www.sharpart.co.uk
